“As a GP, I have direct experience of the real difference that high-quality joined up care can make to people’s lives, and I look forward to championing quality on behalf of the people of the Black Country.”

Sonia is a GP who brings first-hand experience of providing care direct to local patients. She is a GP appraiser who is passionate about the NHS. She qualified in Medicine in London and practised in Buckinghamshire before moving to Birmingham in 2015, where she quickly became involved in GP leadership activities. Being a member of the Birmingham Local Medical Committee and a GP Advisor for the Royal College of GPs has equipped her with valuable insight into the workings of primary care. Roles that Sonia has taken on to gain an understanding into different types of NHS providers, especially secondary and tertiary care, include becoming the Local GP Lead for NHS Birmingham Cross City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and moving on to become the Central Locality Governing Body Lead GP, Vice Chair of the Quality and Safety Committee and Joint Clinical Cancer Lead for Birmingham and Solihull CCG.
