People aged 65 and over in the Black Country are now invited to book their autumn booster jab.

The latest phase of the COVID-19 vaccination programme is well underway, with care home residents, people aged 75 and over, the severely immunosuppressed and frontline health and care workers already invited to book their COVID-19 autumn booster dose.

Now, appointments are being offered to all adults over the age of 65, as long as it has been three months since their last COVID-19 vaccination.

Appointments can be booked online via the National Booking System or by calling 119.

Sally Roberts, Chief Nursing Officer for NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board, said: “It’s fantastic that we can now offer all adults over the age of 65 a COVID-19 autumn booster.

“Although life has gone back to normal for most people, the virus hasn’t gone away and the autumn booster will help make sure those at greatest risk maintain high levels of protection against COVID-19 this winter.

“As with the previous phases in the vaccination programme, those most at risk are being invited to receive their booster dose first, and it’s been great to see so many people come forward already.

“It’s vital that those eligible receive their autumn booster and build up protection against severe illness before the winter. So, if you are eligible for a dose, please do come forward as soon as possible.”

The autumn booster programme will run alongside the annual flu programme, and where possible those eligible will be offered the booster and flu vaccine together.
