Health partners across the Black Country are renewing efforts to promote the 0-18 years website, encouraging parents, parents-to-be, carers, and young people to make full use of the trusted health information available – particularly during winter.

The website provides clear, accessible, and reliable guidance to help families recognise common childhood illnesses, understand when to seek medical help, and support young people’s physical and emotional wellbeing. With winter bringing an expected rise in seasonal illnesses, the renewed campaign aims to ensure families feel confident, informed, and prepared.

The campaign highlights key features of the website, including:

  • Winter health advice on coughs, colds, fever, RSV, asthma, and how to manage common seasonal symptoms at home
  • Guidance for parents-to-be and new parents, including feeding, safe sleep, vaccinations, and early child development
  • Support for young people, covering mental health, self-care, puberty, and accessing help
  • Clear signposting to local services, reducing unnecessary pressure on urgent and emergency care.

Dr Tania Hussain, Clinical lead for Children and Young People for the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB), said: “As we head into winter, it’s more important than ever that families feel supported with trustworthy information about their child’s health.

“The website offers practical guidance developed by healthcare professionals to help parents and young people make informed decisions and access the right care at the right time. We’re urging families to familiarise themselves with the site, so they feel prepared, reassured, and confident when illness strikes.”

By promoting the website this winter, the NHS hopes to empower families with the knowledge they need to keep children safe and well, while ensuring health services remain available for those who need them most.
