A pharmacist in the Black Country has been recognised for his outstanding leadership at the Chemist and Druggist Awards 2025.

The awards are an annual event that celebrates achievements in the UK community pharmacy sector. Pharmacies have become more essential than ever, delivering convenient, accessible healthcare that goes well beyond their traditional role.

Robin Jassal, Operations Lead and Pharmacy Manager at Ettingshall Pharmacy in Wolverhampton, has been recognised as ‘Manager of the Year’ for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and contributions to patient care.

His career in pharmacy started 20 years ago and has been driven by a passion for supporting patients and ensuring the highest standards of care. Over the years, he has gained experience across a variety of areas within pharmacy, enabling him to make a meaningful impact on both patients and colleagues.

The award celebrates Robin’s achievements in:

  • Introducing new patient services to better support the local community
  • Mentoring and developing colleagues, helping to build a strong and confident team
  • Streamlining processes to improve efficiency and patient outcomes
  • Enhancing the overall patient experience through compassionate, person-centred care.

Speaking about the award, Robin said: “I feel so privileged to receive this award. I believe being approachable, listening and leading by example are essential to making a real difference in pharmacy.

“I’m particularly proud of how we’ve worked together as a team to meet the needs of our patients, and this award reflects all of our efforts.”

Ettingshall Pharmacy is one of the Black Country Integrated Care Boards independent pathfinders delivering independent prescribing for minor illnesses, oral contraception, lipid management and hypertension. It supports patients to be seen by a prescribing pharmacist in the pharmacy without the need to be seen by a GP – improving capacity and access across the Black Country.

Kiran Nandra, Dispenser at Ettingshall Pharmacy, said: “Robin is a brilliant manager and an inspiration to work with. He always takes time to support colleagues and makes sure our patients receive the best care. We are all so proud to see his hard work and dedication get recognised with the award, it’s so well deserved.”

Looking ahead, Robin is determined to build on this success by expanding services, supporting colleagues in their professional growth, and developing new initiatives that benefit patients across the Black Country.
