The NOWT (Navigating Our Womanhood Together) women’s health bus tour brought women’s health directly to local communities, welcoming more than 630 visitors on board and engaging hundreds more outside when it visited West Bromwich and Wolverhampton last week.

Across two days, the team delivered 114 mini health checks, held 169 cancer-related interventions, and distributed 1,400 resource bags promoting local services and the NOWT online community.

The NOWT Collective is a group of 12 local organisations working together to support women across the region - of which the ICB is one.

Visitors received education on topics including menopause, contraception, cervical screening, breast and ovarian cancer awareness, and healthy lifestyles, with several referrals made to GPs for raised blood pressure and other concerns.

The tour also fostered extensive networking and advocacy among its 12 partner organisations, highlighting the power of community-based engagement in tackling stigma and improving access to women’s health support.

ICB Chair Danielle Oum visited the bus on Saturday and met with organisers from the ICB Involvement Team, including supporters, and participants of the event (pictured). She said: “It was wonderful to meet so many women from different walks of life, all united in their desire to prioritise their health. The NOWT Bus shows the power of connection and how, together, we can make real change for women’s wellbeing.”

Insights and experiences from the tour will be used to inform the women’s health agenda and shape ongoing community engagement across the region.
